The Farms

Papua New Guinea farms are small, family owned, and located in remote areas where individual producers manage their own land averaging just a few acres in size. They only have access to organic inputs and their harvests are small enough for each individual producer to operate their own wet-mill where cherries are sorted, de-pulped, fermented, washed, and dried.

Ethiopia Sidama hails from the Buna Boka cooperative is the Sidama region in Ethiopia. Comprised of 1069 farmer members, the Buna Boka cooperative allows smallholders to gain more leverage in the global marketplace and gain greater returns due to direct exportation to green bean importers.

Guatemala Huehuetenango comes from an extremely mountainous region of Guatemala where families from 450 small farms process their own harvest to ready for export. The rugged terrain has served to preserve the indigenous heritage, distinct clothing, and dialects of the region. In this cultural oasis, ASOBAGRI is an important bridge to the international coffee community. This cooperative is so well organized and sophisticated, it is recognized around the world. With more than 1,400 members in 80 communities, this cooperative has the enormous task of providing training and technical support to the far flung farmers.
